VVV Venlo will not be able to field new signing Uche Nwofor when they take on Eredivisie joint leaders Ajax at home tomorrow.
The striker is set to join from Enugu Rangers in Nigeria but has yet to obtain a work permit following his return from Under 20 World Cup duty with Nigeria in Colombia.
Venlo had hoped Nwofor would be able to make his debut but director of football Mario Captein said that would not be the case.
"He must get his work permit in Nigeria yet," said Captein, in quotes reported on the Voetbal International website.
"That's a formality, but there must be a long journey with various stops to make. Before, the end of this week was not feasible."
Nwofor's compatriot and Nigerian U20 teammate Ahmed Musa will be available to face Ajax after returning to training with his club following his trip to Colombia.
