New role for Mani in revamped ECB

Dilawar Mani, the president of the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council (ADCC) has been appointed as the new chief executive in the reconstituted ECB board by the new chairman Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak.

ABU DHABI // Dilawar Mani, the president of the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council (ADCC) has been appointed as the new chief executive in the reconstituted ECB board by the new chairman Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak. "It is a great privilege and honour to be appointed to such a prestigious position and I look forward to working closely with the board of directors to introduce corporate governance and manage the affairs of the ECB," Mani said. With the new and bigger role, Mani had to give up the two positions he previously held as the ADCC president and also an ECB selector. Wajahat Husain is the new president while the ADCC general secretary Inam-ul-Haq has been named on the selection committee. The new board includes Omar al Askari, Ahmed Mohammed al Midfa, Mohammed Redha Abbas, Waleed Bukhatir, Khalid Zarooni and Ali Abdulla Alwan. Abdulrahman Bukhatir was the chairman since the ECB was set up in 1989 and gained affiliate membership from the ICC. They got associate member status the following year.
