JJ Redick inspired an Orlando fightback to secure a 115-94 win over Phoenix, while the Lakers ended their recent poor form with victory over the Detroit Pistons.
NBA: Magic bounce back to eclipse Phoenix Suns
The Orlando Magic poured in 40 points in the third quarter of their NBA match against the Phoenix Suns.
The impressive return helped the Magic to come from behind and seal a 115-94 success, to the delight of the home fans at the Amway Center.
JJ Redick scored 24 points for the victors, two more than teammates Arron Afflalo and Glen Davis.
The Los Angeles Lakers finally resembled the team many expected they would be as they blasted the Detroit Pistons 108-79 to end their early-season slide.
The Lakers had begun the new season 0-3 for the first time since 1978, a shocking development for a team who acquired All Stars Dwight Howard and Steve Nash in the off-season.
They finally shook off the early season rust against the Pistons as Howard scored a game-high 28 points, Metta World Peace added 18 and Los Angeles quickly dominated by grabbing a 21-point lead after the first quarter.
The chemistry problems that had plagued the Lakers, who include Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant, in previous games was not an issue as they tallied 27 assists.
Bryant had eight assists to go along with 15 points and seven rebounds. The Lakers were again without Nash, who will miss at least a week with a left leg fracture.Jonas Jerebko led Detroit with 18 points off the bench but they fell to 0-3 on the season.
Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan each scored 22 points as Toronto earned their first victory of the season, 105-86 against Minnesota.
The result means the Raptors have beaten the Timberwolves in 15 of their last 16 games, including nine in a row in Toronto.
Kevin Martin's 28 points were in vain for the Oklahoma City Thunder, beaten 104-95 by the Atlanta Hawks - for whom Al Horford led the way with 23.
Carmelo Anthony scored 27 points as the New York Knicks continued their promising start to the campaign with a 100-84 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, for whom Jrue Holiday also netted 27.
