Michael Johnson, the Manchester City midfielder, accepts he might have to go out on loan for the rest of the season as he continues his comeback from a cruciate ligament injury. He last appeared for the first team in October 2009 and Johnson said: "It is better for me to go and get games now."
Boselli nearing switch to Genoa
Mauro Boselli, the Wigan Athletic striker, is on the verge of joining Italian side Genoa on loan until the end of the season. The Argentine has struggled to make an impact at Wigan since a £6.5 million (Dh37m) move from Estudiantes. "Six months at Genoa. I am very happy," Boselli said on Twitter.
Jensen joins Blackburn backroom staff
John Jensen, the former Arsenal and Denmark midfielder, has been appointed assistant manager of Blackburn Rovers until the end of the season. Steve Kean, the Blackburn manager, said: "John has a wealth of experience, here and abroad. His views and philosophies on football dovetail with mine."
