A step back from 2010. Like last year they are not quick enough to challenge for race wins and that means the German team plan an urgently needed design overhaul for 2012.
7. Michael Schumacher, Germany
Despite not threatening to repeat his past form before his retirement from the sport, the seven-time world champion has improved this year. Picked up strong results in Canada, Belgium and Italy to show that even at the age of 42 he still has plenty of speed in the tank.
8. Nico Rosberg, Germany
Has shown plenty of promise in his career, but this has been another year compromised by having an uncompetitive car and that tantalising first win still alludes him. Still out-performing Schumacher, but the gap between the pair has shrunk as the season has gone on.
