M Plays: Beat the heat at Zayed Sports City

8.30am Mum woke me up (early for a Saturday!) and I remembered today was the day I was going to do Beat the Heat at Zayed Sports City with my brother Josh and our friends Tom and Megan. Hmmm, what to wear?

9am Ate a filling healthy breakfast of pancakes and a smoothie - thought I might need lots of carbs for all the activities planned.

10am We arrived at Zayed Sports City and had a quick briefing on all the activities on offer. I really liked the thought of getting hot and sweaty in the gym and bowling and then being able to cool down in the ice rink. Now we were ready to try out all the activities. Two boys, two girls, let the competition begin.

10.10am We chose Haddins gym first and Tom tried his best to be our instructor. We did a tough workout and enjoyed trying out all the equipment such as:

- Running machines.

- Bouncy balls.

- Rowing machine.

- Spin bikes.

10.45am Finished in Haddins and so exhausted from Tom being our sports coach.

10.50am The bowling centre was next. This was great fun and although the boys were only a little bit better, we still enjoyed ourselves and wanted to keep trying to beat the boys.

11.55am Time to cool down. We headed over to the ice rink and the girls definitely had better balance and style than the boys.

12.10pm Wipeout! I fell over, Josh and Megan, too. Tom was still standing.

12.50pm After all that hard work, we agreed it was time to eat. So we went to the Clubhouse for lunch and I had the most amazing pizza with crispy duck on it. It has to be one of my favourite pizzas ever.

1.30pm Feeling much better and with more energy, we tried out a game of table football and snooker. We girls were rubbish, so decided to have another game of bowling.

2pm Back in the bowling centre and all set up for another game. I finally improved and managed to come third with a strike - hooray!

3pm Time to go home, sadly. Five hours of Beat the Heat was an awesome way to spend a weekend with friends and family. I will be back as I really need to beat the boys at bowling.

Haddins fitness centre for me is one of the most iconic facilities in Zayed Sports City simply because young teenagers for once can train and get fit in a gym that doesn't have crazy age restrictions such as 18-plus or 16-plus.

It has friendly instructors who know their stuff, motivate you and are experts on teen fitness.

But Haddins is more than just a gym. It is creative with its activities, and every session is different and unique so that you don't get bored with an exercise routine.

Zayed Sports City's bowling alley is a great way to meet up with friends and just have a laugh, with a good fun atmosphere and easygoing staff so you can pump yourself up and get your bowling on. With colours and music they have made the Zayed Sports City bowling alley a fun and lively place that is perfect for teenagers wanting to hang out.

Also at ZSC, the Clubhouse restaurant provides a sleek, stylish, sporty atmosphere that you can enjoy after you have finished with activities for the day. The Clubhouse also has billiards and table football, too, making it an even more stereotypical stylish sports lounge - and this makes it more teen-friendly and enjoyable.

I recommend Zayed Sports City for any teen. For these low prices you can spend a whole day having fun, keeping active and spending a fun time with friends. Whether it's just ice skating or doing the whole lot, this is a place to consider this summer.

Josh, 14
