Loyal servant Guti parting company with Real Madrid and is Besiktas bound
Guti is leaving Real Madrid after 15 seasons with the Spanish giants. The midfielder, who had another year to run on his contract, said he is considering an offer from Besiktas, the Turkish club. "I have a good offer from them, an interesting one, now we'll see," Guti said. "It wasn't an easy decision to leave Madrid." Only Raul, the striker, has been at Madrid longer than Guti, who made his debut for the first team in 1995 and helped Real to three Champions League titles, five Spanish leagues and two Intercontinental Cups. He was signed to Madrid at the age of eight and came up through the club's academy. He scored 86 goals in 542 games for Real.
Karim Benzema's lawyer is confident that preliminary charges will be dropped against his client after the revelation of new evidence in favour of the Real Madrid striker. Sylvain Cormer, Benzema's lawyer, said the player's former girlfriend was with Benzema on the evening he allegedly solicited an under-age prostitute. "This witness is serious and what [she] says is verifiable. I have asked that [she] be heard as quickly as possible by the investigating magistrate," Cormier told Le Parisien newspaper.
