Seeing as he's not tied up with the debacle that is the English national side at the moment, Kevin Pietersen took some time out of his day on Tuesday to do a very cool thing - he wandered onto a Dubai dirt lot and joined a pick-up cricket match.
Posting a couple clips to his personal Instagram account, KP can be seen swinging at a pair of deliveries in front of a backdrop that includes the Burj Khalifa.
With the first clip, he writes, "I saw these guys playing on the side of the rd (road) in #mydubai this evening and I really wanted to go play with them, so we stopped and I walked out and spent 5mins batting. I will never forget the faces on these guys. Such lovely people & v v (very, very) good too! I've always wanted to do this and today I did...this made me smile so much! Hope you guys like this short video! X"
In the second, he adds, "Here's another little clip...seriously, this made me so happy! X"
Pietersen just wrapped up a disappointing season with Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League, where the club went 2-12 and finished last among the IPL's eight teams. His own form varied, though he finished on a nice run that saw him average 38.67 over the final six matches, including a season-ending 58 against Kings XI Punjab. He's expected to soon to make his season debut in English county cricket's Twenty20 competition, the NatWest Blast, with his long-time county side Surrey.
