Kazakhstan name squad to face England
ALMATY, Kazakhstan // Kazakhstan coach Bernd Storck has named a 27-man squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against England. Storck took over last week in a caretaker capacity after Arno Pijpers was fired following a disappointing start to the qualification campaign. Kazakhstan opened their account with a 3-0 victory over Andorra, but lost 3-0 to Croatia and 3-0 at home to Ukraine. Storck, who previously coached Kazakhstan's youth team, said his players will try and take the game to England when they meet at Wembley stadium on Oct 11.
"We will not play too deep as that would only make it easier for our opponents," Storck said. "We will play in an active defensive style, rather than being passive." England and Ukraine are joint leaders of Group Six with six points. Kazakhstan have three points. Kazakhstan squad: Goalkeepers: Alexander Mokin, Andrei Shabanov, Vladimir Loginovsky, Alexander Petukhov.
