ABU DHABI // Mohammed Kashif took three wickets from three overs to lead the UAE Exchange Centre to a convincing 98-run win over the Fortune Group in the United Bank Limited Twenty20 final at the Zayed Stadium last night. It was a knockout punch from which the Fortune Group didn't recover. Kashif grabbed two wickets in his first over and uprooted the middle stump of the dangerous Mohammed Asif, who briefly threatened by hitting two sixes and two fours to score 22 from 14 balls. Kashif, who won the Man of the Match award, returned with three for 18 and the spinner Nalin Thenuwara gatecrashed the party by also claiming three for 18 as the Fortune Group were bowled out for 76 in 14.5 overs in reply to the UAE Exchange Centre's 173 for seven in the 20 overs.
The UAE Exchange Centre taking first lease of the wicket lost opener Indika Sampath (5) when the score was 12 before Niresh Fernando (28) and Ihsan Ali (37) shared a 65-run stand for the second wicket to rebuild the innings.
Sandeep Shetty and Amal Fernando hit little cameos down the order to swell his team's total. Shetty hit 39 off 16 deliveries studded with five fours and two sixes, and Fernando's 17-ball 27 contained a six and a four. email@example.com
