Jose Mourinho will politely reject any approach from the English Football Association (FA) to succeed Fabio Capello as England national team manager.
The double-Champions League winning coach purchased a family house in London last week as part of his preparation to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, but is only interested in taking a Premier League job.
The FA has stalled on meeting overwhelming media demand that Harry Redknapp be appointed to lead England at this summer's European Championship with senior figures understood to harbour significant reservations about the suitability of the Tottenham Hotspur manager.
Mourinho, though, will tell FA officials to exclude him from their thoughts.
He was also approached for the same job in December 2007.
"There is no way Jose will coach England," a close friend told The National. "He loves the football in England but there is no chance of this at all.
"What he wants is a club.”
Unhappy with external criticism of and internal resistance to his leadership of Real Madrid despite establishing a 10-point advantage over domestic, European and world champions Barcelona, Mourinho had decided to return to English football at the end of this season.
Confident that strong offers will present themselves, he is in no hurry to take a decision on next season and had left his agent, Jorge Mendes, to handle approaches.
Those already include a proposal from Tottenham to replace Redknapp, which Mourinho is seriously considering.
The 49 year old spent Tuesday in London with his wife, Matilde, completing the purchase of a large house in central London.
