Calvin Borel became the first jockey to win the Kentucky Derby three times in a four-year span by guiding Super Saver to an easy victory over a sloppy track at Churchill Downs on Saturday. Borel steered the three-year-old Kentucky-bred bay along the rail in a ground-saving ride that gave Todd Pletcher, America's leading trainer, his first Derby win after his 24 previous charges failed to deliver. A late kick by Ice Box put him second and Paddy O'Prado was third.
