A rising Formula One driver until a near-fatal accident at a rally in 2011 brought his F1 career to an end, the Pole is taking part in the 24H Dubai this weekend.
A new challenge for you?
“It’s good to be here. This will be my first time in Dubai, so we will have to learn the circuit very quickly. It’s my first time in the Porsche as well. It’s a different car to drive, so we will have to discover a lot of things very quickly. There is not a lot of running before the start of the race, so we will have to be focussed on our work and try to do our best.”

How big a test will it be physically?
“I think it will be OK. I did the 12 hours in Mugello [Italy] last year, which is also part of the Creventic 24-Hour Series. So I think we will be fine, to be honest. I am not worried about it. We are five people in the car, and also I think there are some limitations on how long I can drive because I am a pretty new driver. Two-hour stints shouldn’t be a problem.”
What do you make of Nico Rosberg’s decision to retire?
“It’s his decision. I am sure he had thought a long time about it, and if he decided to take such a big step, it means he was pretty confident. What is most important is that he is happy with it. For sure, his life will change quite a lot, but this is what he wants.”
How has life changed for you after Formula One?
“It’s been a big change. That’s how it is.”
