DUBAI // The International Cricket Council has cleared the bowling action of the Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal. Ajmal's bowling action, especially the doosra, a delivery which spins away from right handed batsman, was reported by umpires after Pakistan's second one-day international against Australia in Dubai last month. "Saeed Ajmal can continue to bowl in international cricket on the basis he uses an action consistent to that used in the latest independent analysis of his (bowling) action," the ICC General Manager of Cricket, David Richardson said.
Professor Bruce Elliott performed tests on Ajmal's bowling action at the University of Western Australia at Perth earlier this month. "During a comprehensive analysis it was revealed that the amount of elbow extension in Saeed's bowling action for all deliveries was within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted in the ICC regulations," the ICC said. Ajmal is named in Pakistan's squad for the World Twenty20 event in England next month.
