Hawks swoop thanks to Johnson

Joe Johnson scored a season-high 41 points to lead the Atlanta Hawks to a 129-117 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

Joe Johnson scored a season-high 41 points to lead the Atlanta Hawks to a 129-117 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday. Johnson also had eight assists for Atlanta, who claimed their fourth successive win with a sixth home victory in seven games. "When you can just come down and pull three-pointers, those games are fun," Johnson said. Meanwhile, Ron Artest scored 10 of his 28 points in the second extra period to help the Houston Rockets scrape out a 120-115 victory over the Utah Jazz in double overtime.

Tayshaun Prince scored 19 points and Allen Iverson added 18 as the Detroit Pistons came out strongly in the second half in an 87-76 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Rasheed Wallace added 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Pistons, Tony Parker scored 32 points as San Antonio held off the Memphis Grizzlies 106-103 in double overtime. OJ Mayo collected 29 points for the Grizzlies while Tim Duncan netted 29 for the Spurs.

Rashard Lewis, Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkoglu combined for 67 points as the Orlando Magic cruised past the Minnesota Timberwolves 118-94, while Brandon Roy scored 18 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter as the Portland Trail Blazers posted a 102-89 victory over the Toronto Raptors. Vince Carter scored 28 points and Devin Harris added 26 as the New Jersey Nets used a dominant final five minutes to defeat the Charlotte Bobcats 114-103 in overtime, while Antawn Jamison scored 29 points as the Washington Wizards beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 104-95.
