Hadeed keen to impress Diego Maradona at Al Wasl

The Dubai club's new signing is hoping to make an immediate impact.

Marwan bin Beyat, the Al Wasl chairman, described the arrival of Fahad Salem Hadeed at the club as "one of the most important signings of the season".

The UAE Under 20 midfielder has joined Wasl on a free transfer, signing a three-year deal, after the Appeals Committee approved his right to leave Sharjah as his contract with them had expired.

Hadeed, 18, is a left-sided midfielder and considered one of the best prospects in the Emirates. He will wear the number 99 shirt at Wasl.

"We continuously search for young and talented Emirati players that can grow with us and support our ranks," the Wasl chairman said. "We are confident Fahad Hadeed will be of great added value to the team, we welcome him and wish him all the best in his new home."

Hadeed, who will be put on a training regime by the club to regain match fitness, is relishing the chance to play for Diego Maradona, the Wasl coach.

"It is an honour to join such a great team like Al Wasl," he said, "and what makes it even better is getting the chance to work under the guidance and supervision of football's greatest legend, Diego Maradona, and I hope to gain his trust quickly and prove myself to be able to gain a spot in the main squad."

Wasl face Al Ahli - at Al Nasr's ground -in the President's Cup on Sunday.
