DUBAI // The Smith brothers dominated at Meydan Racecourse's second Spring Meeting last night, riding four of the evening's six winners between them.

Wayne Smith, the premier rider for the trainer Musabah al Muhairi, rode a treble for his boss but it was brother, David, who also works at al Muhairi's Oasis 1 yard, who claimed the Dh90,000 feature, picking up a spare for next-door trainer Ali al Raihe.

"It's great to pick up good spares," said David, who was riding his third winner of the season when he piloted Muffarrh home by a neck in the 1,600m feature.

"Ali has given me a few nice rides this season so it's great to get a winner for him."

Meanwhile, al Muhairi and Wayne combined to claim victory with Zafeen Speed winning a third consecutive Meydan Racecourse contest in the mile-long fourth.

They also took the 2,000m final race with Paschendale and had earlier been in the winner's enclosure with Fantastic Dubai, who triumphed in the 1,400m second in a close finish.

"Fantastic Dubai has been working very well," said al Muhairi.

"He is a horse that only just does enough in a race."

Ismael Mohammed was the other trainer who also claimed a double.

Air of Grace claimed his first victory when getting up by a head under jockey, Antioco Murgia, to win the opening 1,400 contest.

Mohammed followed up with Qamar in the third over 1,200m, a decisive three-and-three-quarter-lengths victory with Ahmed Ajtebi in the irons.

Qamar was claiming his first victory since coming to the UAE from England last year.
