Tommy Fleetwood fell victim to a 'mongoose attack' during the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa but chose to see the funny side of it.

The Englishman, currently world No18, could only watch helplessly as a pair of mongooses interrupted play on the first day in Sun City.

Fleetwood's shot cleared the water and landed on the 14th fairway before the 'wildlife interruption'. The incident should not come as a surprise as Sun City is near the Pilanesberg National Park and game reserve.

The mongooses played with the ball for some time, moved it around before losing interest. Fleetwood later posted a video of the incident. “Anyone know the rule for a mongoose attack on your golf ball? Got to love Sun City!” he posted on Twitter.

Golf Digest reported that since "the ball was still moving when the animals made contact, Rule 11.1 stipulates that you simply play the ball where it comes to rest."
