Harrington steals the limelight in warm-up event

All the pre-tournament focus for the Dubai World Championship, which begins tomorrow, has been on Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell and who will come out on top in the Race to Dubai, but Padraig Harrington took centre stage yesterday.

The Irishman led his team to success in the pro-am event held at the Earth Course as part of the build up to the weekend's tournament.

The three-time major winner was part of the BMW 3 team, who along with Tom Barry, Michael Tracey and Mike Sim, triumphed with a score of 19 under par. This was three ahead of the BMW 2 team, who were led by Francesco Molinari, and Harrington's teammates had no doubt about the reason for their success.

"Padraig was wonderful to play with," Barry said. "Whenever one of us had a chance to score, he would spend time reading the putts and helping us get the best score we could. He was a real team player."
