Godolphin could be dual-handed in the UAE Oaks at Meydan Racecourse on Thursday after Mahmoud Al Zarooni entered Pimpernel and Falls Of Lora in the US$250,000 (Dh918,3000) contest.
Pimpernel was thrashed by stablemate Gamilati in the UAE 1000 Guineas 18 days ago but may improve on the record of fillies beaten in the 1,600-metre Classic when stepped up another 300 metres.
Two of the last three winners of the UAE Oaks were beaten in the UAE 1000 Guineas, including the Dubai-based operation's Devotee, who was tailed off on her first start in 2009 but stormed back to form for Saeed bin Suroor and Frankie Dettori.
The line-up could be completed by Saeed Manana's Alsindi, Ramzan Kadyrov's Moon Spun, as well as Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa's Colorful Notion and Mary Fildes, who finished in that order behind Pimpernel in the first Classic of the UAE season.
Elsewhere on the card, Prohibit and Better Be The One could clash in the turf contest over 1,000 metres in preparation for a rematch in the Al Quoz Sprint on March 31.
Better Be The One, trained by Michael Freedman, went agonisingly close in the Al Quoz Sprint on Dubai World Cup night when, after a preparation in Singapore, he was just touched off by JJ The Jet Plane and War Artist. Prohibit was behind in fifth but improved beyond recognition throughout 2011 after a huge weight-carrying performance in France in September added to his victory in the Group 1 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Freedman, who has also entered Cash Luck in Thursday's Meydan Classic turf race, will be in Dubai this week to put the finishing touches to his six year old and is looking forward to improving on last week's efforts when The Comedian and Always Certain ran for him without success.
"Better Be The One is every bit as good as last year and we are looking forward to his different preparation," Freedman said.
"There's not a great deal for him in Singapore and he likes a straight course. He ran well at Meydan last year, when he raced 10 times and was only out of the money once."
Happy Dubai, who was 10th in the Al Quoz Sprint, has showcased this season the rejuvenating skills of the trainer Ali Rashid Al Raihe after one of the best performances of his career with a storming success in the Jaguar XJ Trophy last week. The five year old has also been entered to face Better Be The One, as has Addictive Dream, who has won twice at Meydan this season.
