Genoa are interested in the former Lyon midfielder Juninho and will shortly wrap up a deal for Inter Milan striker Hernan Crespo, the Serie A side said yesterday. Crespo will join the Atalanta striker Sergio Floccari in having a medical in the coming days while the ambitious club said they were tracking the Inter winger Ricardo Quaresma.
Meanwhile, Gareth Bale. the Tottenham Hotspur full-back, has had knee surgery and now faces a race to be fit for the start of the next Premier League season. The 19-year-old pulled out of Wales' World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan in Baku this week and an MRI scan showed a "medial meniscal tear", Spurs confirmed yesterday.
