WATCH: Mohamed Salah's desire to prove people wrong reason behind successful season at Liverpool
Mohamed Salah gave a us a sneak peek into his character shortly after he collected the Football Writers Association Award at a ceremony in London late on Friday night.
Salah, who moved to Liverpool from Roma during the summer of 2017, spoke of his determination to return to the Premier League and become successful in what is considered one of the most challenging club football leagues in the world. The Egyptian forward was once a Chelsea player - for two years between 2014 and 2016 during which time he scored two goals in 13 appearances.
He was loaned out to Fiorentina and then Roma before making a permanent move to Liverpool.
"To be honest, it was always in my mind when I left Chelsea," Salah said about his Premier League return. "I said many times it was always in my mind to come back, because a lot of people say he cannot succeed here and he's not good enough for the Premier League.
"So it was always in my mind to come back, and I had two great seasons in Rome, but I said to myself everyone was telling me no don't come back but it was always in my mind to come back to prove them wrong, so, yeah.
During the course of the current season, which ends this weekend, Salah has certainly proved he is good enough to play lop-level football in England.
