Watch: Lionel Messi not interested in personal awards, only to 'win every match' with Barcelona
Lionel Messi has said he has no interest in personal accolades and is only focused on achieving success for Barcelona.
Messi, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner, is enjoying another productive season, scoring 19 Primera Liga goals to help Barca to a nine point lead at the top of the table.
The Argentine has also played a starring role in the Catalan club's Copa del Rey and Uefa Champions League campaigns. Barca are through to the Copa del Rey semi-finals and take on Chelsea in the last-16 of the European Cup next month.
Given his impressive form, combined with the struggles of Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo - his only rival for individual honours for the past decade - Messi appears on course for another Ballon d'Or award.
However, the Argentina captain insists the success of Barcelona far outweighs any personal achievements that might come his way.
"I have said this many times, individual awards aren't my purpose," Messi said at an Adidas event in Barcelona to launch a new pair of boots. "Neither that Golden Ball, neither the Golden Boot, nor any other. Our goals are to win every match we play. Thank God we are getting it done, and I wish for the best finish to the season.
"Fortunately things are going all right at the moment ... we got rid of a difficult situation, we had to recover against Espanyol. It wasn't easy, but we did it and we are now in the semi-finals. We are happy how things are going, although there is still some way to go."
Barcelona's next assignment is a Primera Liga clash with Alaves at the Camp Nou on Sunday.
