UAE to face Trinidad and Tobago as part of 2019 Asian Cup preparations
Alberto Zaccheroni’s team scheduled to face the Caribbean side on September 6 in Spain
The UAE are set play Trinidad and Tobago later this year as part of their preparations for the 2019 Asian Cup.
Alberto Zaccheroni’s team, who will serve as hosts at the January 5-February 1 event, are scheduled to face the Caribbean side on September 6 during a training camp in Girona, Spain.
Several other friendlies have been discussed to take place between the UAE’s next camp in August and the Asian Cup, with a marquee match against Argentina considered for Abu Dhabi in November.
Zaccheroni has planned an extensive programme in the build-up to the tournament, staged in the Emirates for a second time. The country hosted the continent's principal tournament in 1996, with the UAE finishing runners-up – their best result to date.

The UAE have been drawn in Group A alongside Bahrain, India and Thailand. Currently ranked 81st in the world, the national team sit 11 places above Trinidad and Tobago. The two teams met at the 2013 OSN Cup, when the UAE won on penalties following a 3-3 draw.
