The Premier League wants players to take a 30 per cent pay cut to cope with financial losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic

The Premier League wants footballers from the division's 20 clubs to take a 30 per cent pay cut to cope with losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Here we take a look at how those proposals will affect the highest earners at Southampton, who are 14th in the table on 34 points.

The money the players agree to forgo is expected to go to good causes, including protective equipment for frontline health workers and towards salaries of non-playing staff members also forced to take wage cuts.
