Sergio Aguero has called on Manchester City to "kick on again next season" after the Argentine striker helped the club win a third Premier League title.

Aguero, 29, joined City in 2011 and played a significant role in the two previous title-winning campaigns, in 2012 and 2014. This season proved no different, with Aguero scoring 21 goals as City wrapped up the title with five games remaining.

Aguero said the challenge now is for City to retain the title, something he is yet to achieve.

"Now the trick is making sure we kick on again next season and come back even stronger," he said. "We’re looking forward to the celebrations, but first we have five important games to play and we want to win them all. Then we can think about the World Cup and next season."

Aguero scored arguably the most famous goal in City's history when, in the final moments of the final game of the 2012 season, he scored the winner against Queens Park Rangers to secure City their first Premier League title.

And the Argentine is pleased to avoid the drama of that day this time round.

“This is my third title with City and it’s just a relief not to have to wait the final day this time! This season has been incredible and the football we’ve played has been the best I’ve been involved with while at the club," he said. "It’s been a pleasure to play with this team and be part of everything we’ve achieved this season."

As part of a core group of players to have won every Premier League title with City, Aguero believes this year's achievement stands out more than the rest.

“For players like David Silva, Vincent Kompany and Yaya [Toure], it’s even more special because it’s another title we’ve won together," he said. "We have scored great goals, played fantastic football and learned together under Pep [Guardiola]."
