Sadio Mane 'lucky to be working' with Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool chase more history

The Reds were crowned champions for the first time in 30 years after Chelsea beat Manchester City 2-1 last week

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has said he is "lucky to be working" with Jurgen Klopp as the Premier League champions continue to bask in the glory of their historic title.

Liverpool were crowned champions for the first time in 30 years last week after Chelsea beat Manchester City 2-1.

Many of the plaudits have been directed at manager Klopp, who since arriving at Liverpool in 2015 has transformed the club into European, world, and now English champions.

Mane, whom Klopp signed from Southampton in 2016 and has been a key player for the German, agrees that his manager deserves all the praise.

"He is a great manager - everybody is happy with him," the Senegalese forward told LFC TV. "I, myself, am lucky to be working with him for sure, because as a player and as a human being I can say I've developed under him which is really important for every player.

"You can see the way the players have developed in this team, and I think all of these things come from him - so I will say again, it's thanks to him."

Liverpool won the title with seven games of the season remaining, the swiftest conclusion of a title race since the top division in England was rebranded.

The Reds, currently on 86 points, are now aiming to become just the second team, after Manchester City, to break the 100-point barrier.

Their next match is a trip to the team they only just unseated as champions, and City are expected to form a guard of honour at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday night.
