Paris Saint-Germain have signed former France midfielder Lassana Diarra on an 18-month contract.

The 32-year-old midfielder, who has represented Real Madrid along with English clubs Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth in a much-travelled career, was a free agent after leaving Al Jazira last month.

Diarra won the most recent of his 34 France caps in May 2016.

"I am very happy to have signed for my home-town club," the Paris-born player told his new club's official website. "I am lucky enough to make this dream come true, to know what it feels like to play at the Parc des Princes wearing the Rouge et Bleu."

PSG also offered an encouraging update on the fitness of Kylian Mbappe, despite leaving him and fellow forward Neymar out of their squad to face Guingamp on Wednesday.

Mbappe was carried off on a stretcher in Sunday's Ligue 1 loss to Lyon after a collision with OL goalkeeper Anthony Lopes and was pictured with his neck bandaged after the game, but scans have allayed fears over a more serious injury.

Marco Verratti also misses the Guingamp clash while Thiago Motta trained separately from the main squad, following an individual recuperation programme as he recovers from a calf injury.
