Brighton and Hove Albion and Burnley both won 3-0 against Watford and Southampton respectively, while Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to triumph 3-1 over Aston Villa.
Arsenal were 1-0 victors at Newcastle United, while a late goal from Bill Sharp salvaged a 1-1 draw for Bournemouth at Sheffield United.
The games between Crystal Palace and Everton and Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers both ended goalless.
