Manchester City winger Leroy Sane has rejected a new contract and will leave at the end of the season if a deal can be agreed with another club, manager Pep Guardiola has said.

City have been trying to persuade the Germany winger to sign an extension to his current contract, which expires in 2021.

"Leroy has rejected to extend his contract. Everyone knows. If at the end of the season two clubs agree he can leave, if not he will leave at the end of his contract," Guardiola said.

"The club offered two or three times and he rejected it. He has special quality. We want players who want to play with the club to achieve targets.

"He is a nice guy and I love him so much. I have nothing against – but he wants another adventure."

Guardiola added that David Silva and Claudio Bravo will stay with the club until the end of the extended season, having initially been due to leave at the end of June.

Sane has not played for City since he picked up a cruciate ligament injury during the Community Shield in August and was an unused substitute in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Arsenal.

German champions Bayern Munich have been heavily linked with the 24-year-old, who joined City  from Schalke for £37 million (Dh168m) on a five-year deal in 2016.
