Arsenal produced a vastly-improved away performance to draw 0-0 with Premier League champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. After defeat at Stoke City and a thrashing at Liverpool, Arsene Wenger's side hit the post through Aaron Ramsey and had Shkodran Mustafi's headed goal disallowed as they had the better of the chances in a lively derby. Tempers frayed near the end with Chelsea's David Luiz shown a red card for a wild tackle on Sead Kolasinac. Arsenal's draw snapped a five-match losing streak away to Chelsea in the league and left them in 12th place with seven points. Chelsea are third with 10 points.

Southampton: Davis (6')
- Roy Hodgson's first match as Crystal Palace manager ended in defeat to Southampton as the London club's miserable start to the Premier League season continued. Hodgson was appointed Palace's new manager on Tuesday following the sacking of Dutchman Frank de Boer whose ill-fated reign lasted four league games, four defeats and no goals scored. However, former England manager Hodgson could not inspire an immediate reversal in fortunes as Steven Davis's sixth minute goal proved decisive at Selhurst Park. Palace now face a daunting stretch of league fixtures, including trips to Manchester City and Manchester United before hosting champions Chelsea.

Leicester: Vardy (50' pen)
Jamie Vardy gave 2016 champions Leicester a much-needed point as his penalty secured a 1-1 draw at newboys Huddersfield. Vardy scored from the spot - as he had done in the 2-1 loss to Chelsea last weekend - just minutes after Belgium international Laurent Depoitre marked his full Premier League debut by giving the hosts a deserved lead in the opening minute of the second-half. The point preserved Huddersfield's unbeaten home record and leaves them on eight points whilst Leicester are in 14th spot, a more precarious position as they are level on four points with third from bottom West Ham.

Burnley: Arfield (27')
Liverpool's 125th anniversary celebrations fell flat at Anfield where they completed a disappointing week by drawing 1-1 with Burnley. Liverpool gave Philippe Coutinho his first start amid seven changes from their Uefa Champions League team, but familiar defensive failings surfaced after 26 minutes when they failed to clear the ball and Scott Arfield produced a superb half-volley. The one consolation for manager Jurgen Klopp was the quick response with Liverpool taking just three minutes to equalise thanks to a fine individual effort from Mohamed Salah. Liverpool pushed for the winner but, for all Coutinho's brilliance, they lacked the cutting edge in the absence of the suspended Sadio Mane and Burnley, who could even have poached a late winner through Ben Mee, held on for an unexpected point.
Newcastle United 2 Stoke City 1

Stoke: Shaqiri (57')
Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles scored the winner as Rafa Benitez's side beat Stoke City 2-1 at St James' Park to post their third successive Premier League victory. Benitez was back in the dugout after a health scare but under orders to keep calm and was delighted to see his side take the lead after 19 minutes when Christian Atsu connected from close range for his first Premier League goal after a superb Matt Ritchie cross. Without suspended striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, Newcastle looked to Joselu up front but the former Stoke forward squandered three chances to increase Newcastle's lead. Although Xherdan Shaqiri equalised against the run of play, Lascelles headed another excellent Ritchie cross in off the post after 68 minutes to secure the points.
Watford 0 Manchester City 6
Man City: Aguero (27', 31', 81'), Jesus (37'), Otamendi (63'), Sterling (89' pen)
Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick as free-scoring Manchester City climbed to the top of the Premier League with an irresistible victory against Watford. Aguero opened the scoring in the 27th minute, heading home Kevin de Bruyne's superb free kick, and doubled the lead within four minutes when he converted David Silva's teasing cross from close range. City were in exuberant mood and added a third before the break when the excellent Gabriel Jesus latched on to Aguero's pass to stroke home in the 38th minute. After Nicolas Otamendi headed in a fourth in the 63rd minute, Aguero completed his treble with a neat finish at the end of a sensational run. Raheem Sterling added a sixth from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Christian Kabasele late on. City have 13 points from five games - three more than rivals Manchester United who play Everton on Sunday. Watford, in 10th, have eight points after their first defeat of the season.
West Bromwich Albion 0 West Ham United 0
West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster was fortunate not to receive a red card for a reckless challenge as his side played to a 0-0 draw with West Ham at the Hawthorns. Foster raced out of his box on 66 minutes and made a sliding tackle on West Ham striker Javier Hernandez, upending the Mexican, but referee Paul Tierney flashed yellow instead of red. It was the big talking point of an otherwise forgettable game, with the closest that either side came to a goal being a long-range effort from just inside his half by West Ham's Pedro Obiang that crashed against the crossbar. West Ham defender Jose Fonte also had time to place his header from a corner in the first half, but steered the effort wide as manager Slaven Bilic's side picked up their first away point of the season
Tottenham Hotspur 0 Swansea City 0
Tottenham Hotspur's Wembley woes continued as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Swansea City. Spurs were again dominant at the national stadium but were unable to convert any of their chances with forward Harry Kane going closest when he rattled the crossbar in the second half. Moussa Sissoko, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min were wasteful for Mauricio Pochettino's side who enjoyed 75 per cent of possession and had 26 attempts but were unable to break down the resolute visitors. Spurs defender Serge Aurier was booked for diving, despite appearing to be clipped as he raced into the box while Kieran Trippier blazed a fierce shot narrowly wide late on. Victory would have lifted last season's runners-up to third but they sit fifth with eight points after five games. Swansea, in 14th, have five points after another encouraging performance.
