Liverpool's invincibles: An astonishing run of 39 games without defeat in the Premier League - in pictures

Jurgen Klopp's side have not lost a league game in more than a year

Liverpool have completed a remarkable 39 games and more than a calendar year without defeat and their runaway lead looks certain to bring their first Premier League title since 1990.

Jurgen Klopp's side won 2-0 against Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday and have dropped just two points all season - when United held them to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in October.

Every other game has seen three points for Liverpool, and if they continue that form they will break the record tally in the Premier League. The Reds have collected 107 points across their last 39 Premier League matches (W34 D5 L0) - a record total by any team across a 38-match spell in the competition's history, overtaking 102-point stretches by Man City (ending in 2018) and Chelsea (2005).

They have continued where they left off last season, when they were only denied the Premier League title by Manchester City's amazing run.

City were the last side to beat Liverpool in the league, a 2-1 win at the Etihad on January 3, 2019.

After beating Shefield United 2-0 on January 2, Liverpool completed a full calendar year without losing a game, 37 matches. That was extended with victory at Tottenham and against Manchester United, increasing their lead at the top of the table.

Above in pictures is how that 38-game run has unfolded, starting with their 1-0 win at Brighton on January 12, 2019. To move on to the next image, click on the arrows, or if using a mobile device, simply swipe.
