Kylian Mbappe unsure of Monaco future amid interest from Real Madrid, Arsenal and PSG
French teenager has become one of the most sought-after players in football after a stunning breakthrough season.
French striker Kylian Mbappe has cast doubt over his Monaco future by saying he is unsure whether his future is with the club.
Mbappe, 18, has become one of the most sought-after players in world football after a stunning breakthrough season that saw Monaco reach the Uefa Champions League semi-finals and win the Ligue 1 title for the first time in 17 years.
Mbappe scored 15 league goals and created eight assists, while scoring six goals in the Champions League, becoming the only player to score in each of his first four appearances in the knockout stages. He has also broken into the France setup and has earned four caps for his national team.
Primera Liga winners Real Madrid and French giants Paris Saint-Germain have both been heavily linked with a move for Mbappe, which according to media reports would cost a world record fee upwards of €100 million (Dh421m). Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has also revealed his interest in the teenage striker.
Mbappe is with the Monaco squad in Switzerland as part of their pre-season training camp and the club are determined to hold on to the striker for one more season at least.
However, when asked by Spanish newspaper, Marca, if he would remain in the principality, Mbappe replied: "I do not know if I will stay ."
It is the first time Mbappe has spoken publicly about his future, and while his comment is hardly a come-and-get-me plea, the lack of commitment is sure to cause Monaco and the club's fans a degree of concern.
