Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Mohamed Salah will rejoin Liverpool's squad for their summer training camp in France at the end of July, but admitted there is no set date for the return of Sadio Mane.

The Egyptian, along with Brazilians Roberto Firmino and Alisson, was given extra time to rest due to his involvement in international action since Liverpool's 2018-19 campaign ended in victorious fashion on June 1 when they won the Uefa Champions League with a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid.

Salah played four games for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) before their shock second-round exit to South Africa in Cairo on July 6, while Firmino and Allison were part of Brazil's Copa America winning side who lifted the trophy after beating Peru in the final on July 7.

Klopp confirmed on Liverpool's website that the trio will return to club duty and join their teammates in Evian on July 29, where final preparations for the new season will take place.

“Mo and the Brazilians will come for Evian," said Klopp, who believes that will be sufficient time for them to prepare for the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium against Manchester City on August 4, the opening league game of the season at Anfield on August 9 against newly promoted Norwich City and then the Uefa Super Cup in Istanbul against Chelsea on August 14.

“It means then we have nearly a week until City, a strong 12 days until Norwich and then 15 or 16 days until Chelsea," he added.

But he put doubt on whether Mane will be involved in the Community Shield match, or the start of the league campaign as Liverpool bid to win the title for the first time in 30 years.

Mane will play for Senegal in the Afcon final on Friday in Cairo against Algeria and Klopp said a clear time frame for the forward's return to club football was difficult to gauge until they know how he is doing physically after playing in six matches for his country.

“With Sadio, we have to see about him after the final – how he is feeling and stuff like that,” he said.

“It will be really difficult. 16 days before we play City, his season is finished. We will have to make a decision, but we haven’t made it yet.”

The majority of Liverpool's squad reported back for training at the start of July and Salah, Firmino and Alisson will miss the club's tour of the United States, which begins on Friday when they play Borussia Dortmund in Notre Dame.

But, Klopp is confident the three players will get quickly back up to speed when they arrive in France.

"The good thing is, when you have a short break you don’t lose a lot," the German said.

“They needed three weeks and so we told them [to take it], but they train now again already.

“I would have preferred it if they had come back after a week, but that would make absolutely no sense. So, they have these three weeks and then we will have them here for pre-season.”
