Chelsea began their title defence in shambolic style with a shock home defeat to Burnley as the instability surrounding the champions spilled over in to the first weekend of the new season.
There was better news for other title hopefuls though, with Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United all clinching impressive wins, while Arsenal fought back to claim all three points.
