Cristiano Ronaldo is certainly making the most of his visit to the UAE.

The Juventus striker was in Dubai for the New Year celebrations with his family and enjoyed the spectacular firework show.

He has also been out and about on the water, soaking up the sunshine on a boat trip with his fiancee Georgina Rodriguez.

And now he has taken to social media to show his latest excursion - a helicopter ride above Dubai.

In a video on his Instagram account, his 149 million followers could see him climb to the top of the Burj Al Arab where he boarded the helicopter.

Joined by a few friends, they head out over the coastline with the Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina visible in the distance before flying over The World Islands.

He is here for the Globe Soccer Awards at Madinat Jumeirah on Thursday night, where he has been nominated for the Best Player Award.

Ronaldo has since met up with Sheikh Hamdan, the Crown Prince of Dubai, who labelled the Portuguese "a great player and greater friend" in a post on Instagram, as well as going for a night run in the desert.

The former Real Madrid forward has been in fantastic form for Juventus since his €100 million (Dh421m) summer move, scoring 14 goals in Serie A as his side top the table by nine points from second-placed Napoli.
