Cristiano Ronaldo is all smiles as he lets pitch invader take a selfie at Old Trafford

The Juventus star was in high spirits after his side's 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Champions League

Cristiano Ronaldo must have been in a good mood at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.

His Juventus side had just beaten his former club Manchester United 1-0 in the Uefa Champions League, and both the home and away fans were voicing their appreciation of him as he made his way off the pitch.

So when a pitch invader came hurtling towards him, only to be tackled by stewards, instead of ignoring the situation or making a swift escape, Ronaldo turned back and encouraged the security staff to let the desperate fan have his moment. (see the slideshow above)

As the fan was held back, Ronaldo took hold of his mobile phone, set up the camera and snapped a quick selfie with the fan whose expression looked like one of joyful disbelief.

Given the constant scrutiny of the media and the intrusion of privacy from members of the public, it is unusual in this era for such high-profile players to welcome such attempts to take photos.

But Ronaldo was clearly enjoying his return to his former club after Paulo Dybala's first half strike gave Juventus victory.
