F1 weekend schedule: motor racing and concerts on Yas and Corniche

Non-stop action, on and off the track for Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Island with concerts at the Yas Arena and Beats on the Beach on the Corniche.

Fans with three-day tickets can get a closer look at the cars during the pit-lane walk, which has become one of the popular traditions of the grand prix weekend. Ticket holders will also gain early access to the F1 Village and the Oasis areas.

There is no concert at Yas Island, but Abu Dhabi will host Beats on the Beach on the Corniche, where Ayman Zbib, Danny Cee, Dahab, Najwa Karam and Nine Muses are scheduled to perform.

The track action begins, headed by Formula One practice in the afternoon. The teams and drivers will have two 90-minute sessions to work on their car set-up and tyre choices.

There will be also be practice and qualifying sessions for the GP2 race and the Porsche Mobil 1 SuperCup.

The first of the major concerts takes place once the track activities are over, with Britney Spears appearing in the Yas Arena (located behind the North Grandstand of the track).

For people heading back into Abu Dhabi, there is again entertainment on offer on the Corniche at Beats on the Beach with Jay Sean, The Recipe, DJ Dany Neville, Aryam, Example and Fatboy Slim.

Business picks up for the Formula One teams. There is a final practice, then at 5pm the battle for pole position begins in the three-tiered qualifying sessions.

The slowest seven cars in the first session will line up 18 to 24 on the grid. The next session will eliminate seven more cars, who will start from 11th to 17th. The remaining 10 drivers will then set the quickest time they can, with the fastest driver taking pole for Sunday's race.

In the evening, the Cult and Incubus will perform at Yas Arena. At Beats on the Beach, Dave Crane, Hasnaa Zalagh, Juliana Down, Saber el Robai and Desert Heat will perform.

The highlight of the weekend comes at 5pm when the third Abu Dhabi Grand Prix starts. Spectators will see the drivers beforehand when they take part in the drivers' parade around the 5.55km track, before they concentrate on the challenge of the 55-lap race.

It is a busy day of track action with three support races - GP2, Porsche Mobil 1 SuperCup and Porsche GT3 Challenge.

In the final activity of the grand prix weekend, Paul McCartney will perform on the Yas Arena stage.
