Double tops in capital for Lemartinel

The trainer started 2011 in the same rich vein of form he finished 2010 with a double at Abu Dhabi last night, taking his seasonal tally to 14.

Eric Lemartinel, the trainer, started 2011 in the same rich vein of form he finished 2010 with a double at Abu Dhabi last night, taking his seasonal tally to 14.

Tadhg O'Shea was also in double form and began his brace on Lemartinel's Af Dhaham in the fourth race, a 1,400m conditions race.

David Smith rode Lemartinel's earlier winner, Naseem Al Reef who denied stable companion AF Maqam Alezz in the second race, a 1,600m handicap.

Smith said: "He stayed on really strongly and I thought we would get there. It is great to get a ride for Lemartinel who does so well."

O'Shea completed his double by landing the concluding 2,200m conditions race on Takaamul, beating Bareq into second while Menwaal was third.
