Captain Virat Kohli and his Indian team have received support from unlikely quarters: German football star Thomas Muller.
The Bayern Munich forward tweeted a few hours ago a photo of himself wearing the India jersey and holding a cricket bat with a pledge to support Kohli and his teammates at the 2019 Cricket World Cup. India face South Africa at Rose Bowl in Southampton in their opening match on Wednesday.
Muller, himself a football World Cup hero when Germany lifted the trophy in Brazil in 2014, is on summer break after Bayern won the Bundesliga title. Rest assured, he will be spending some of his vacation time watching cricket.
I wish all participants of the Cricket #WorldCup2019 good luck & thrilling matches. Especially I cross my fingers for @imVkohli, the captain of the Indian team. He`s a fan of @DFB_Team and supported it multiple times in the past 🏏✊😃 #Cricket #GermanyCheersForIndia #esmuellert pic.twitter.com/hwS4apAlIE
