Cory Stillman returns to haunt Florida Panthers

The left-winger leads the Carolina Hurricanes to a 2-1 victory against his former team.

Cory Stillman returned to haunt the Florida Panthers as he led the Carolina Hurricanes to a 2-1 victory against his former team.

The Panthers traded left-winger Stillman to the Hurricanes just last week and he immediately made them regret that move as he scored one and made one for Eric Staal to secure victory. Stephen Weiss replied for Florida.

Alex Ovechkin’s goal 1 min 55 sec into overtime lifted the Washington Capitals to a 2-1 win over the New York Islanders.

Brooks Laich scored with 47.2 sec left in regulation to force the period of overtime after Matt Moulson had opened the scoring for the Islanders in the second.

Jarome Iginla had two goals and two assists as the Calgary Flames powered to a 6-0 win over the St Louis Blues.

Alex Tanguay also chipped in with a goal and two assists while goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 25 shots as he shut out the Blues for the second time in three days following the 1-0 win in Calgary on Sunday.

Max Pacioretty, James Wisniewski and Brian Gionta were on target as the Montreal Canadiens ran out 3-1 winners against the Atlanta Thrashers, while Nathan Horton bagged the only goal as the Boston Bruins won 1-0 against the Ottawa Senators.

The Buffalo Sabres were 3-2 winners against the New York Rangers, while the Dallas Stars defeated the Phoenix Coyotes by the same score line at Glendale.

The Edmonton Oilers were 2-1 winners against the Nashville Predators, the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 after a shoot-out while the San Jose Sharks did likewise against the Colorado Avalanche.
