Arsenal 2 Hull 1 | Saturday, 4.30pm

Why? Hull's improvement under Marco Silva has been astonishing, especially since they sold two of their best players in Jake Livermore and Robert Snodgrass. They'll approach this game in the same way as their 0-0 draw at Old Trafford. Eight men behind the ball, a physical striker and quick counter-attacks using their full-backs. Arsenal, however, are in danger of losing their top-four place and need three points badly after two straight defeats.

Man United 2 Watford 1 | Saturday, 7pm

Why? With Liverpool facing Tottenham, this is United's big chance to move into the top four. They've kept a clean sheet in their last two games and October 23 was the last time they conceded more than once in a game. Watford's new-look strike force, with Mauro Zarate and M'Baye Niang either side of Troy Deeney, could cause them some problems, although it is likely Walter Mazzarri will pick a more pragmatic defensive formation.

Middlesbrough 1 Everton 0 | Saturday, 7pm

Why? Yes, Everton scored six times in their last match. Yes, Boro have the league's worst scoring record. But two more stats are key here. The home side's defence is better than that of Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal. They can keep Romelu Lukaku quiet. Also, as we saw last week, unexpected results happen when the relegation battle gets tight. This week is Boro's turn.

Stoke 2 Crystal Palace 0 | Saturday, 7pm

Why? Palace are in major trouble. The fact they could not score at home against Sunderland last week speaks volumes for how ineffective their forward line is. They also let in four and if they defend that poorly again, Stoke will win with ease. It should be tighter than 4-0 but the home side are everything Palace aren't: powerful, efficient and getting the best out of their squad.

Sunderland 1 Southampton 1 | Saturday, 7pm

Why? Sunderland's big problem this season has been that they are conceding at almost twice the rate that they are scoring. They've let in 42 goals and scored just 24, with four of those coming last week at Crystal Palace. So it is hard to see them keeping a clean sheet and, in that context, Southampton should fancy themselves to get something at the Stadium of Light.

West Ham 2 West Brom 0 | Saturday, 7pm

Why? West Ham's Andy Carroll is entering one of those runs of form that maintain his reputation as one of the most effective strikers around. After another trademark long spell out injured, he now has four goals in the last four games. The giant striker will enjoy a battle against West Brom's centre-backs and he can come out on top. How long before he hurts himself again though?

Liverpool 0 Tottenham 0 | Saturday, 9.30pm

Why? Despite the attacking talent on both sides, this is likely to be a tight affair. Tottenham are superb defensively, the league's best, and manager Mauricio Pochettino will probably be realistic in his approach. Chelsea are probably too far ahead to be caught at the top of the table, but getting a point at a top-four rival's ground would be a success.

Burnley 0 Chelsea 1 | Sunday, 5.30pm

Why? Burnley have been brilliant at home while terrible away, and this is where that pattern starts to hurt them. With 29 points, they are probably going to stay up. But they only have six home games left from 14 and three of their next four matches at Turf Moor are against Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United.

Swansea 2 Leicester 1 | Sunday, 8pm

Why? It's astonishing to think that Swansea, who have been in the relegation zone for most of the season, head into this as favourites, but they do. New manager Paul Clement has led them to three wins from five games and they could also have got a point in the 2-1 defeat at Manchester City last weekend. Leicester, meanwhile, have yet to score a league goal in 2017. The two sides should swap places in the table come the end of Sunday's game.

Bournemouth 1 Manchester City 3 | Monday/Tuesday, midnight

Why? Bournemouth have conceded 25 goals in their last 10 games including six last week. If City can get going in the same way they did at West Ham two games ago, this could be ugly. Pep Guardiola has sprung plenty of surprises in his team selections this season. Even though new striker Jesus Gabriel has three goals in his last two games, don't be astonished if Sergio Aguero is back at centre-forward for this one.
