Back to the drawing board for Al Ain as they search for a man to replace Cosmin Olaroiu.
Brazilian coach Abel Braga turns down UAE champions Al Ain
Abel Braga has turned down the chance to manage UAE champions Al Ain.
The former Al Jazira manager said Al Ain had made him an offer but that he was unwilling to breach his contract with Brazilian club Fluminese.
Speaking to iG.com, Braga said: "When I received the offer, I was in my room with [Fluminese directors] Sandro Lima and Rodrigo Caetano. When I received the email with the offer, I showed it to everybody.
"Al Ain are the biggest club in the United Arab Emirates. I was asked if I would accept the offer and I told them that I wouldn't as I don't want to break my current contract. I have never done so."
Braga was in Abu Dhabi at the start of this week to negotiate with Al Ain and officials there claimed he had agreed a two-year deal.
However, the Brazilian, who won the league and President's Cup double with Jazira in 2010/11, is still under contract with Fluminese.
There was no comment from Al Ain today but last night officials at the club said they were still in negotiations..
Braga's decision may see Al Ain return to previous target Jorge Fossati.
The Uruguayan, 60, who led Qatar's Al Sadd to the Asian Champions League in 2011, also held negotiations with Al Ain before the Garden City turned their focus to Braga.
Al Ain are searching for a coach after Cosmin Olaroiu, the man who led them to back-to-back league titles, left to join rivals Al Ahli.
