Braga bows out victorious for Al Jazira

Every one of the four unanswered goals that was scored on the night was dedicated to Braga by the players.

Al Jazira 4 // Dubai 0

ABU DHABI // Abel Braga, the Al Jazira coach, was given a perfect parting gift from his players in last night's final round of the Pro League at the Mohammed bin Zayed stadium.

The 56-year-old coach took charge for the last time before returning to his native Brazil after leading the Abu Dhabi club to a first ever league and President's Cup double.

Every goal that was scored on the night was dedicated to Braga by the players, the Brazilians, Ricardo Oliveira and Bare, and then Khaled Sebil and Juma Abdulla, raced towards him to celebrate in a lopsided first half that yielded four unanswered goals.

Dubai restored some respectability with second-half goals from substitutes Ali Hassan and Redha Abdulhadi, with a penalty, but there was to be no denying Jazira on their night of celebration.

Oliveira triggered the party with a spectacular fourth-minute strike. He collected a pass from Matias Delgado with his back to the Dubai goal, turned around and sent the ball swirling from 30 yards to crash against the far corner of the net to send the 36,241 crowd wild.

Bare headed in a cross from Obaid to double the lead. He then rolled the ball towards the unmarked Sebil on the far post, and the Jazira winger had plenty of time to blast home the third. Abdulla headed in a free kick to make it 4-0 at the break.

It could have been more had Oliveira, when set up by Ibrahim Diaky, converted a one-on-one with Jamal Abdulla, the Dubai goalkeeper, but that was being picky.
