Bologna's spluttering Serie A campaign was not helped on Thursday when they were deducted one league point for failing to pay tax on their players' salaries, and have been told they face further deductions for delays in paying players and staff.
The one-point sanction means the northern side remain fifth from bottom of the league, now on 13 points.
Sergio Porcedda, the Bologna president, has been suspended from his post for six months. Porcedda, who holds an 80 per cent stake in the club, failed to pay tax on his players' salaries from May to June of this year.
Players and staff at the club have not received salaries from July to September.
Bologna travel to Cesena tomorrow.
