Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin has suffered a fractured sinus as a result of the jarring hits he received from New York Jets safeties Kerry Rhodes and Eric Smith last Sunday. Boldin did not practice on Wednesday and is unsure when he will return to action, although the Cardinals have not officially ruled him out of this weekend's game against the Buffalo Bills. Despite the injury, Boldin said he is not about to change his aggressive style.
"As soon as I get back on the field, it's the same old me," he said. "I don't plan on altering the way I play because if I did, I wouldn't be Anquan." Smith was suspended for one game for what the NFL called a flagrant violation of player safety rules. His helmet-to-helmet hit with only 27 seconds remaining in the Jets' 56-35 victory knocked out Boldin. After passing all spinal and neurological tests at Mt Sinai Hospital in New York, Boldin was allowed to fly home with the rest of the Cardinals squad on Sunday night. Additional tests on Tuesday showed that he did not suffer a concussion from the painful collision and impact.
The six-year veteran is the Cardinals' leading receiver this season with 27 catches for 366 yards and five touchdowns. * PA Sport
