Nelson Valdez, the Paraguayan international striker, will arrive at Al Jazira's Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium on Thursday for his medical exam ahead of a move from Spanish side Valencia.

Valdez, 29, will fly back to Spain on the same day, before returning to Abu Dhabi on July 20, one day before the club's pre-season training begins.

Luis Milla, the former Spain Under 21 coach who took charge of Jazira in February, is said to have had played a big part in Valdez signing a two-year deal.

He is the second player from the Primera Liga to sign for Jazira after Abdulaziz Barrada, the Moroccan midfielder from Getafe. The pair are the two changes in the club's foreign quartet, which includes Ricardo Oliveira and Shin Hyung-min.

Valdez, who has 66 international caps, will replace the Brazilian striker Fernandinho, and Barrada comes in for Matias Delgado, the Argentine midfielder who re-joined Swiss side Basel.
