Al Wasl are set to unveil former Monaco coach Guy Lacombe as their new manager.

The Dubai side are expected to confirm the 57-year-old's appointment later today as a permanent replacement for Bruno Metsu.

The French Olympic medal winner, who was fired by Monaco in January 2011, will take up the reins ahead of Wasl's match with Al Jazira on Friday.

Metsu was appointed during the summer as a replacement for Diego Maradona, but stood down just five games into his tenure at the Zabeel Stadium for health reasons.

At the time the club said his assistant Gilles Morriseau would take charge until the end of the season, but a 5-0 defeat by champions Al Ain this week looks to have changed their minds.

Morisseau, a part of the French squad that won gold in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, started his managerial career in the 1990s with Cannes, and has managed a host of Ligue 1 sides, including Rennes and Paris Saint-Germain.
