Al Wahda cancelled signing Ghana international Harrison Afful on Thursday following a delay from his current employer, Esperance Tunis, on the terms and conditions for an agreement.

The defender, 28, had arrived for a trial and completed the medical but, according to an official of the Arabian Gulf League club, they had to drop the idea as they did not receive any communication from the Tunisian club.

“We sent them reminders and after three days cancelled the deal because we didn’t receive an answer,” said the official.

He didn’t say who was to be replaced but Adil Hermach, the Moroccan midfielder, was the likely player.

Meanwhile, the Abu Dhabi club signed Emirati forward Abdullah Al Jamhi, 24, on a three-year deal from Al Shabab.
