Former Juventus striker could link up with former coach Walter Zenga as replacement for released Italy international.
Al Nasr turn to Palermo captain Miccoli as replacement for Luca Toni
DUBAI // Al Nasr have identified Fabrizio Miccoli as a possible replacement for his compatriot Luca Toni, who has been released by the club after failing to impress since his move to Dubai in January.
The Italian striker Miccoli, 32, has played for Palermo in Serie A since 2007, and is the club captain and all-time leading scorer with 66 goals.
His previous clubs include Juventus, Perugia, Fiorentina and the Portuguese giants Benfica.
Walter Zenga, the Nasr coach, and Miccoli have worked together before when the Italian goalkeeping legend had a short spell in charge of Palermo.
Nasr are also interested in the Brazilian striker Bruno Correa, who playing for Sepahan in Iran.
Elsewhere, Al Ahli's midfielder Ahmed Khamis and the defender Mohammed Qassim will be looking for a new club following the technical committee's decision to dispense with the services of the two players. The decision is based on post-season recommendations by Quique Sanchez Flores, their coach.
Ahli could also lose another defender, Ahmed Ali, with Nasr keen to sign him. The Pro League runners-up are looking to bolster their defence following Ali Al Ameri's return to Al Jazira after his loan spell.
